Session Title: Supporting Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Deafblind Patients: What to Know

This session will provide participants with the opportunity to:

  • Identify current existing barriers for deaf/hard of hearing/deafblind community
  • Review interventions suggested by folks with lived experiences (data from study)
  • Brief overview of language deprivation and communication considerations 

A Statement of Attendance will be provided to active PTSBC members who are registered and in attendance at this seminar.

Speaker Information: Felicia D’Amato, Mental Health Social Worker, BSW, MSW, RSW

 Speaker BIO: Felicia is a mental health social worker working with the Deaf Well Being Program, supporting the deaf, hard of hearing, and deafblind community in BC. Felicia works with youth, adults, and seniors, and provides counselling and social work support to clients around the province. Felicia conducted a study with UBC Pharmacy and is passionate about bringing awareness to both the hearing and deaf community to reduce barriers and enhance connections to services for all.
