We are independently owned pharmacies located in the Shuswap Area.  

  • We have an opening for a part-time Pharmacy Technician, which may lead to full-time employment. 

We offer a variety of services to our communities which include providing prescriptions, injection services, opioid agonist therapy, medication reviews, blister packing and delivery service.  We work in collaboration with other members of our community health care providers.  We are a highly professional team and pride ourselves in our leading edge commitment to the communities we serve.

Our two locations are within 30 minutes of each other.  The successful candidate will be employed mainly at our Chase location but will also be required to work at our Scotch Creek location.

The Shuswap area is renowned for its beauty and outdoor recreation. Housing remains affordable in our area.

Pharmacy Technician - Full-time

Location: Newgen PharmaChoice, Abbotsford, BC

Newgen PharmaChoice is the BC Renal and BC Transplant pharmacy in Abbotsford. We are looking for an enthusiastic person with great interpersonal skills who can work in a fast-paced environment. This is a full-time position or a minimum of 32 hours. We offer a competitive wage with extended health benefits.
 
Required Qualifications:- Completed provincial Pharmacy Technician certification or completed a Pharmacy Technician course AND the Pharmacy Examination Board of Canada Qualifying exam
- Licensed as a Pharmacy Technician in good standing in BC
 
Responsibilities include:

- Assists pharmacist in the filling and dispensing process of the prescription
- Assists patients at counters, retrieves prescriptions, processes register transactions
- Answers phone calls to assist patients with prescription refills or medication inquiries
- Coordinates deliveries, assists accounts receivables with pending charges
- Maintains medication inventory, supplies and OTC merchandise
- Completes verification for prescriptions and blisterpacks to the extent permitted by provincial regulations
- Alerts pharmacist of drug interactions between prescription and OTC medications 
- Prepares third-party insurance claims
- Is able to practice within the Scope of Practice of Registered Technician with the College of Pharmacist of BC.

Shift types are days and evenings. Shift times for this position are from 00 to 15:30, 07:30 to 16:00, 08:30 to 17:00, 09:30 to 18:00, 14:30 to 23:00hours.

What you’ll do 

  • Process clinically reviewed and approved medication orders for distribution to a patient.
  • Receive prescriptions (verbal and non verbal) from practitioners and ensure that prescriptions are complete and authentic by performing duties such as verifying allergy status and/or demographics.
  • Prepare and process prescriptions by performing duties such as entering orders, counting, measuring, packaging or re-packaging medications and compounding various sterile pharmaceutical products, including hazardous drugs, according to established procedures.  Pre-package oral, liquid and topical medications into unit-of-use format.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of dispensed prescriptions prepared by self or others by verifying order entries, and/or performing the final check of dispensed prescriptions.
  • Enter and ensure the accuracy and completeness of drug and personal health information in the pharmacy information system
