      • Explain antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and how it develops
      • Describe the health risks associated with antibiotic overuse and misuse
      • Recognize that true Penicillin allergy is uncommon and often overreported
      • Differentiate asymptomatic bacteriuria from a true urinary tract infection
  • CEU: 1.00 non-accredited

Speaker Information: Kate O'Connor., RN, MSc

BIO:  My name is Kate O'Connor and I am a Nurse Educator with the Community Antimicrobial Stewardship Team at the BC Centre for Disease Control. I have over 18 years of experience in public health nursing and communicable disease prevention. In my current role, I support prescribers and allied health professionals by providing education on antibiotic stewardship and health promotion. When people  understand how to use antibiotics wisely, we help preserve these life saving medications now and for future generations.
